July/August IIE News
What an exciting summer!
IIE’s Academic Track to University of Hawaii System
IIE is proud to announce an agreement with Kapiolani Community College (KCC), part of the nationally ranked University of Hawaii (UH). The campus is located next to Diamond Head, within minutes of Waikiki and IIE. Our Academic Track program is a recognized qualifying program into KCC’S Credit ESOL program. This means students who successfully complete IIE’s Academic Track program (a minimum of 4 months) can enter into university without a TOEFL score. In KCC’s Credit ESOL program, students take regular classes with native speaking students. Check back soon for more details on IIE’s Academic program and agreement with KCC.
Record Breaking Summer Classes
Our Kids/Teens Summer Program has become such a success, we moved into a new space just for them (Waikiki Trade Center). Enrollment in IIE’s highly rated K-STEP and J-STEP classes is the highest ever. Both students and parents love the fun and enriching activities everyday, as well as the communicative and educational English lessons. Check back on the website soon for pictures!
Our year-round adult classes at the Kalakaua Center (click here for a map of the two schools) also have the highest enrollment in IIE’s history. Students are drawn to our premium English lessons, exciting and cultural activities, and friendly, personal instructors and staff. Our adult classes are also the most internationally mixed yet!
Free Yoga and Tai Chi
IIE’s activity schedule is always chocked full of interesting, and varied activities. Our students especially love our Free Yoga and Tai Chi classes, a unique feature of IIE, not to be found at other ESL schools in Hawaii. Keeping with the spiritually rich history of Hawaii, IIE offers these classes free to students each week. Join Jen, IIE’s Assistant Director, a certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher every Wednesday for Beginnger’s Yoga, and Tom, IIE Instructor, every Thursday for Tai Chi.
