IIE HAWAII NEWS, FALL 2008
BEST NATIONALITY MIX POLICY WELCOMED
Thank you very much for the response that we have already received from many agents about our newly announced commitment to a balanced nationality mix, which involves a 50 percent limit of any nationality. We are looking forward to working together with everyone to deliver the best in international education.
Below is an excerpt from the announcement…
“For 2009, we have some very important announcements. As part of our commitment to excellence, IIE Hawaii is very excited to introduce our Best Nationality Mix policy. We are proud of the wonderful mix of cultures at our school… this year we hosted students from over 30 countries. To show our commitment to our students and agents, we have placed a 50 percent limit of any nationality on the total enrollment of our adult programs. We will be carefully checking the numbers, and if necessary, students of particular nationalities will be placed on a waiting list if the numbers rise over 50 percent. We kindly ask our agents for your cooperation in working with us to offer the best English learning experience possible.”
STARS JAKE & BRUCE SHIMABUKURO OPEN IIE UKULELE CLUB
Jake Shimabukuro was the surprise guest to the concert/party for his brother Bruce Shimabukuro’s weekly Ukulele Club at IIE Hawaii on October 9. Students were thrilled to hear the famous brothers give a demonstration, perform, and talk about playing the wonderful Hawaiian instrument. Afterwards, students chatted with the brothers and lined up to have their pictures taken. This unique “English through Music” club takes place Thursday afternoons at 2pm and will be open only to IIE Hawaii students. Free memberships to the club will be offered for students registering in October and December.
HIGHEST QUALITY, BEST VALUE AT IIE HAWAII
In these tough economic times, students want the most value for the best price. This year, IIE Hawaii received the rare “International Excellence Award” by a major international education agency based on student evaluations of thousands of schools.
Now, we have added even more value to the educational and cultural experience at IIE Hawaii. In addition to the very popular free weekly hula dance class at IIE, we have added a free weekly yoga class. The class is taught by IIE Hawaii instructor Melanie Lee who is also a trained yoga instructor.
IIE’s daily activities also include a weekly free Study Group with a teacher, Conversation Club, Hiking, Sailing, Island Beach Tour, and many more. No other school in Hawaii offers so much value to the student. It makes for an unforgettable learning experience at IIE Hawaii!
