Lei’s are a traditional feature of Hawaii culture. We give lei’s to people when they arrive in Hawaii and for special occasions such as birthdays, farewells, promotions, weddings, and more. Leis can be made of a variety of materials such as flowers, shells, nuts, and ribbon. At IIE you will the have chance to learn how to make a ribbon lei. We choose to add the ribbon lei to our activity schedule because we want you to be able to take a long lasting memory of your time back with you to your country when you go home. Also once you learn how to make the leis you can make them for your friends and family as souvenirs!
