Study in Hawaii

Sunset 350

Hawaii is an excellent choice for studying English abroad. It’s one of the safest places in the United States. It’s also an experience in “Paradise” you’ll never forget.

IIE is located in Waikiki, the main tourist area in Hawaii. It’s the best place in Hawaii to shop, go to the beach, take part in an exciting nightlife, learn Hawaiian activities like surfing, and meet people from all over the world. You can find all the conveniences of mainland America on Oahu.

For students who like to get away from city life, the North Shore is an hour drive away. When you are on the North Shore, it feels like you are on another island! It’s also easy and cheap to travel between islands. You can use any international, or American airline, or you can use a Hawaiian InterIsland airline.

See you soon in Paradise!!

Top 10

IIE Students’ Favorite Things To Do in Hawaii

  1. Shopping - Students love the shops of Waikiki, Ala Moana and Ward Center. They also enjoy the convenience of large shopping centers like Foodland, Star Market, Walmart, Costco, Waikele Outlets, and Aloha Stadium Flea Market
  2. Surfing - Some favorite surf spots include Canoes of Waikiki, and Bowls of Ala Moana
  3. The Beach - There’s more to do here than surf and swim! Students enjoy reading, relaxing, and playing volleyball at the beach. Waikiki and Kailua are two favorites.
  4. Hiking - Diamond Head (Hawaii’s extinct volcano) and Manoa Falls are the top hikes for IIE students.
  5. Eating - Students love to find new restaurants and taste local or famous food. One favorite is the Wine Bar.
  6. Sightseeing - There’s so much to see on Oahu! Students recommend driving(or even better by motorcycle!) around the island on the Circle Tour. Visiting Ewa beach, Chinatown, the zoo, Pearl Harbor, and don’t forget the amazing seaside and mountain views!
  7. Movies - Sometimes it’s good to head indoors on a hot day. Ward Center Theater plays all the latest movies, and is a place where locals hang out. WTC Theaters only charge $1 for 3-6 month old movies. IIE screens movies for free, offering popcorn and a chance to discuss the movie in English with teachers.
  8. Drinking - IIE’s exciting nightlife has a lot to offer. Waikiki has tons of bars, clubs and dancing, a few minutes walk from school or Waikiki condos.
  9. BBQ - Students love a good BBQ. IIE hosts BBQs at Fort DeRussy Park next to the school, which students enjoy attending. They also host their own on the weekends at Waikiki Banyan.
  10. Waikiki - World famous Waikiki is a fun place to hang out, people watch, go bike riding, walk, or even fish! Of course don’t forget surfing and the beach!
