General English (STEP)

Short-Term English Program, 16 hours / week

Study Tuesday to Friday, for 4 hours each day (16 hours/week);
F-1 Student Visa not required.
Have 3 different classes Tuesday-Friday, 9:00am-1:00pm:

  • Core Course - 9am-10:30am: A multi-skilled communication class that offers practice in a full range of English skills including Conversation, Listening, Reading, Writing, Presentation Skills, Grammar, Pronunciation, and more.
  • Skills Classes 10:45am-1pm:
    • Skill 1 - 10:45am-11:45am: Grammar Class: an interactive grammar class using the highly recognized Azar Grammar Book series to help build, or refine grammar skills.
    • Skill 2 - 12pm-1pm: Listening/Speaking Class: a class focused on creating group, pair, and individual speaking opportunities, as well as listening exercises.
      Skill 2 Electives - 12pm-1pm (instead of Listening/Speaking Class):
    • Academic Track: The Academic English class teaches the reading and writing skills necessary for successful American college studies. Students should be in levels 400-600. Students in 400 must be approved.
    • Business Communication: A popular topics-based course focusing on business terms and functions, essential grammar, and real-life case studies. Students gain pratice in the key skills of business reading, speaking, listening and writing. Students should be in levels 400-600.
