Monday Electives

5 lessons / week

Students in the 25 and 35 lessons programs take Elective classes each Monday, 8:50-1:05pm as part of their programs.

Students in our Conversation Cafe-Plus Electives program have the benefit of having Elective courses each Monday morning (with a larger group of students), in addition to their afternoon Cafe classes.

Below is the typical class schedule on Monday. Students may choose one of the classes offered for each class time. (Options may change based on demand.)

  • 8:50am-10:20am:
    • English Through TV: Students will learn new vocabulary and idioms through watching popular American TV shows and other media. Students will discuss American culture and other topics of interest.  

  • 10:35am-11:45am:
    • TOEIC Preparation: A course to help successfully prepare for the TOEIC, a test designed to determine proficiency in the English language used internationally in business, commerce, industry and diplomacy. Listening comprehension, reading, grammar, and TOIEC practice tests are some of the areas covered in the course. (Students must be in level 400 or above)
    • Reading & Vocabulary: Develop reading skills and build vocabulary with interesting readings and exercises, and a variety of engaging activities to help understand, remember, and use new words.

  • 12pm-1:05pm:
    • TOEIC Preparation (see description above)
    • Writing: Students will learn to express themselves in writing according to their levels. Students will learn the basics of general and academic writing including sentence, paragraph and essay structure.
